Every rebozo is handmade in a traditional backstrap loom by Purhepecha Artisans. The majority are from the communities of Ahuiran, Turicuaro, and Erongaricuaro, Michoacan, located in the rural highland areas in Central Mexico, every rebozo is created over the course of 2 weeks to several months. The quality of material, the size, and weaving vary based on the artisan’s preference and the size of their loom and their body which is used in the backstrap loom weaving process.

Every rebozo is unique, each artisan has their own technique. The uses of the rebozo are infinite, they can range from carrying your baby, help during the pregnancy, making you feel protected, or even help to carry your groceries! I invite you to appreciate and value these incredibly beautiful works & the time they have invested into each one of them. It is very difficult to capture all of their beauty in a photo.
